Bangalafumenga: A Traditional and Influential Block of Brazilian Carnival
Founded in 1999 in Rio de Janeiro, Bangalafumenga is one of the most traditional and influential carnival blocks in the country. Created by a cultural event at the Gávea Planetarium, the group was born from the union of the poet Chacal with the musicians Rodrigo Maranhão and Celso Alvim.
History and Tradition
Bangalafumenga held its first parade in 1999, traveling the route from the tip of Leblon to "baixo bebê". In 2001, it expanded its activities to São Paulo, contributing significantly to the development of the São Paulo street carnival.
