About Bloco da Chaleira do Vidigal

O Bloco da Chaleira do Vidigal: Joy and Tradition in Rio's Carnival

The Bloco da Chaleira do Vidigal is a vibrant symbol of Rio de Janeiro's Carnival culture. Founded in the 1970s, the bloco has a rich history and a unique musical identity that captivates revelers of all ages.

History and Tradition

It all started with a group of friends who, after a festive lunch during Carnival, joined the residents of Vidigal to sing and play music. The lack of a container for the cachaça led to the choice of a kettle (chaleira), which became the bloco's iconic symbol. After a period of absence, the bloco returned to the streets in 2016, revitalizing the community's traditions.

Musical Identity

The Bloco da Chaleira do Vidigal brings traditional Carnival rhythms to the streets of Rio. With a lively band and talented singers, the bloco creates a contagious and joyful atmosphere, involving revelers in its party.
