History and Tradition

The name "Camelo" (Camel) arose in 1925 when the Clube Carnavalesco Vassouras, from Pernambuco, adopted the nickname as a symbol of resistance against its rival, "O Leão" (The Lion). In Rio de Janeiro, the Bloco do Camelo emerged later, located in the charming Paquetá.

The Bloco do Camelo offers a Carnival experience focused on samba. Its bateria (percussion ensemble), although small, is highly skilled, with members occasionally coming from other renowned baterias. The repertoire includes traditional and contemporary sambas, guaranteeing a vibrant soundtrack for the revelers.
