Bloco dos Cabeças da Cinco: Irreverence and Critique in the São Paulo Carnival

The Bloco dos Cabeças da Cinco is a traditional carnival bloco that parades through the streets of São Paulo, the capital of São Paulo state. Founded in 1982, the bloco emerged as a group of friends who gathered to celebrate Carnival. In 1984, its name was changed to honor the number of the bus that took them to the parades.

The bloco stands out for its irreverence and social critique, expressed through samba-enredo songs composed annually. The proposal of the Bloco dos Cabeças da Cinco is to bring reflections on political and social issues, always with a dose of humor and satire.

The bloco parades with a drum section of 150 percussionists and a sound car, as well as singers and dancers. Its performances are marked by animation and interaction with the public.

The Bloco dos Cabeças da Cinco is recognized for its originality and ability to mobilize revelers. Its parades are always eagerly awaited and promise a lot of fun and social critique.
