Sá Pereira Children's Block: Celebrating Carnival Culture for Children
The Sá Pereira Children's Block is a unique Carnival block that unites generations and promotes culture and art among children. Linked to the Sá Pereira School, the block emerged as a way to encourage artistic expression and the joy of Carnival.
History and Tradition
With roots in the 1980s, the Sá Pereira Children's Block arose from the school's work with the theme "Color, Form, Rhythm and Sound." Since then, the block has played a fundamental role in the school community, bringing families together and promoting inclusivity.
Musical Identity and Repertoire
The block is known for its lively drum section, composed of parents, teachers, alumni, and friends of the school. Its repertoire is a contagious mix of traditional Carnival marches and samba. Annually, the children and teenagers of the Sá Pereira School create and select the official samba of the block, promoting participation and young talent.
Practical Information
The Sá Pereira Children's Block parades in Botafogo, in the South Zone of Rio de Janeiro. Its meeting point is on Rua Capistrano de Abreu, 29. The parades take place in the morning, around 8 or 9 am, and last until the early afternoon.
