About Bloco Tradição de Cangaba

The Bloco Tradição de Cangaíba, founded four years ago, parades in the eastern zone of São Paulo. Its eclectic repertoire includes samba-enredo, marchinhas, and MPB, honoring Brazilian musical diversity. The bloco has a strong connection with the local community and its samba tradition, especially with Nenê de Vila Matilde.

For the 2025 carnival, the bloco plans to honor Dona Danga, a centenarian Bahian woman who represents the history of samba in the region. Tradição de Cangaíba is a community effort to keep the culture of street carnival alive, adapting to the new realities of the city.

Bloco Tradição de Cangaba: A Cultural Symbol of João Pessoa

Founded in 1979 in the Cangaba neighborhood, in João Pessoa, Paraíba, the Bloco Tradição de Cangaba is a cultural symbol of the city and the neighborhood it represents.

With energetic and vibrant performances, the bloco is known for its presentations in the style of frevo, maracatu, and samba. During the street parades at Carnival, the bloco presents a frevo orchestra and a samba percussion section.

The Bloco Tradição de Cangaba is an expression of the cultural identity of the Cangaba neighborhood and the city of João Pessoa. Its performances are a moment of celebration and joy, bringing together residents and visitors to experience Brazilian Carnival culture.
