Bloco Fica Comigo: The First "Retro Pagode" Block in the World
About the Block
Bloco Fica Comigo, created in 2011 in Rio de Janeiro, is known for its unique style of "retro pagode," which revives classic hits of the genre from the 1990s. With the purpose of "talking about love" in its various forms, the block seeks to create a festive atmosphere similar to the energy of Carnival in Rio and Salvador.
History and Tradition
Founded in 2011, Fica Comigo quickly stood out on the Rio de Janeiro carnival scene. In 2012, it was recognized by the newspaper O Globo as one of the most promising blocks of Carnival. Since then, the block has been performing in several cities in Brazil and internationally, including Curitiba, Brasília, Belo Horizonte, Salvador, Recife, and Lisbon, Portugal.
Musical Identity
Fica Comigo's repertoire consists of covers of classic pagode songs from the 1990s, such as songs by Só Pra Contrariar, Katinguelê, Exaltasamba, Raça Negra, and Molejo. The block also incorporates current pagodes into its shows, maintaining a connection with the evolution of the genre.
Parades and Performances
Fica Comigo parades in the South Zone of Rio de Janeiro every Carnival Monday. In addition, it organizes its own events and parties throughout the year, with specific themes such as Festa Junina and birthday celebrations. These events are known for their "match" atmosphere, encouraging people to connect and celebrate together.
