The bloco Flor de Lis is a name that evokes joy and samba. Founded in São Paulo on May 13, 1976, the São Paulo bloco became one of the largest and most traditional in the city, with a successful history before becoming a samba school. The Rio de Janeiro bloco, created in 2018, pays tribute to the musician Djavan.
History and Tradition
Bloco Flor de Lis of São Paulo
The Bloco Flor de Lis of São Paulo was founded by a group of samba enthusiasts in the Jabaquara neighborhood. After an internal crisis, the bloco ceased activities in 1979, returning as a bloco in 1986. In 1987, it won its first championship in Group 2 of Blocos, ascending to the Special Group. After five titles in the Special Group, the bloco merged with the samba school São Paulo Zona Sul in 2002, forming the Escola de Samba Flor de Lis da Zona Sul.
Bloco Flor de Lis of Rio de Janeiro
The Bloco Flor de Lis of Rio de Janeiro was created in 2018 in Bangu, by Téo Cordeiro and Ronaldo Cotrim, in homage to the musician Djavan.

The bloco presents a mixture of marchinhas, samba, maracatu, baião, funk, pop and reggae, with a focus on Djavan's songs, which are reinterpreted for street carnival.
