Afro Blocs in Salvador: Black Resistance and Empowerment
Afro blocs are a cultural manifestation that emerged in Salvador in the 1970s as a form of Black resistance. These blocs combine ancestral percussive rhythms, Afrocentric aesthetics, and lyrics that combat racism. Ilê Aiyê, Olodum, and Muzenza stand out, parading annually in the city's peripheral neighborhoods.
