Banda da Praia da Bica: Celebrating Carnival on Ilha do Governador

Get to know the bloco that revives the carioca carnival tradition on Ilha do Governador.

History and Tradition

Founded in 1995, Banda da Praia da Bica arose from the passion of a group of friends for Carnival. Inspired by Cordão da Bola Preta and Banda de Ipanema, they created a bloco that would bring the joy and festivity of samba to Ilha do Governador. After a period of inactivity, the bloco returned in 2014, motivated by the resumption of street carnival in the region.
