About Bloco Carnavalesco Casa de Dona Yayá,
The Casa de Dona Yayá Carnival Block, created in 2000, parades in Bixiga, São Paulo. With a focus on social issues, the block chooses an annual theme to inspire its carnival songs, addressing topics such as women's rights, mental health, and the neighborhood's Black memory.
Musically, the block celebrates Brazilian popular culture with original carnival songs and carnival classics. In addition to maintaining the tradition of street carnival, the Casa de Dona Yayá Block contributes to the preservation of local memory, especially of the Casa de Dona Yayá, a historical heritage site in Bixiga.
