Get Ready for the Carnival Cry!
Bloco das Gambas, an icon of Rio's carnival, invites you to experience the essence of traditional revelry. Founded in the heart of Rio Comprido, this bloco is a haven of joy and music that has been entertaining revelers for decades.
The Tradition of the Old-Time Bloco
As an "Old-Time Bloco," Bloco das Gambas preserves the spirit of carnivals of yesteryear, valuing music and conviviality. Its proposal is to celebrate carnival culture at its point of origin, without neglecting animation and human warmth.
A Rhythm that Rocks
The bloco is dedicated to keeping alive the classic carnival repertoire, including traditional sambas and other Brazilian rhythms that refer to the oldest street blocos. To the sound of instruments such as cavaquinho, pandeiro and surdo, revelers are rocked by contagious joy.
Practical Information
During carnival, Bloco das Gambas concentrates its revelry on Rua Aristides Lobo, nº 217, in Rio Comprido. The parades take place annually and start at 2 pm, with dispersal around 8 pm. The estimated audience varies between 300 and 800 people, creating a lively and welcoming environment.
Pre-Carnival and Contact
In addition to the parades, the bloco promotes pre-carnival events, such as the "Grito de Carnaval Bloco Gamba Cheiroso," which includes a delicious feijoada. To stay up to date on the schedule and news, follow the bloco on social media:
