About Bloco Esfarrapado
Founded in 1947, Bloco Esfarrapado is one of the oldest and most traditional carnival groups in São Paulo. Emerging spontaneously in Bixiga, its name is a tribute to the neighborhood's irreverence. Focusing on carnival marches, the group preserves the essence of São Paulo's street carnival. Currently, Esfarrapado has an elaborate structure, including a sound truck and band, which keeps the tradition of carnival marches alive. Its parade on Carnival Monday attracts a diverse audience, celebrating the cultural history of Bixiga and the identity of São Paulo.
