Founded in 1987 by UMES students, the Bloco UMES Caraspintadas honors the participants of the demonstrations against the Collor government. Animation, creativity, and social engagement are the hallmarks of the bloco, which contributes to the popular culture of Santos with its samba theme song.

In addition to weekly rehearsals, the bloco participates in street parades during Carnival, standing out for its organized structure and engaging performances.
