About Bloco Vila Mara
Founded in 1989 by residents of São Paulo, the "Bloco Vila Mara" initially emerged as "Bloco da Vila Maria". In 2008, it was renamed to its current denomination. Known for its engaged and critical lyrics, the bloco presents itself as a defender of Brazilian popular culture.
During Carnival, the "Bloco Vila Mara" parades through the streets of Vila Maria, presenting samba-enredo with drums, passistas, floats, and thematic wings.
