Among the vibrant streets of Rio de Janeiro, emerges the "Where's My Kiss?" block, an oasis of romance and flirting during Carnival. Founded in 2015, this block's mission is to transform the streets into a sea of smiles, promoting a family-friendly environment and encouraging the expression of Carnival passion.
Origin and History
Conceived by brothers João and Carlos Carneiro, "Where's My Kiss?" was born from the nostalgia of the Carnival balls they attended with their father. After watching União da Ilha's parade in 2014, they decided to create a block that celebrated love and flirting, elements so present in Brazilian Carnival culture.
Identity and Proposal
"Where's My Kiss?" calls itself an "ode to flirting," with the aim of creating a relaxed and festive environment. The block encourages the use of costumes, promoting an atmosphere of joy and uninhibitedness.
Structure and Performances
The block's percussion section, called "Bizarre Rhythm," pays tribute to a deceased friend. The main singer, Doum Guerreiro, is also part of União da Ilha's official sound car. With an average of 2,000 revelers in its parades, "Where's My Kiss?" performs on Rua Luís Sá, in the Village neighborhood.
Repertoire
The block's repertoire is a mixture of traditional Carnival marches and classic samba-enredo songs, with emphasis on those of União da Ilha. The contagious rhythms and irreverent lyrics create a contagious atmosphere that invites revelers to surrender to the joy of the party.
