Confraria do Pasmado

Confraria do Pasmado: A Traditional and Versatile Carnival Block from São Paulo

Founded in 2003, the Cordão Carnavalesco Confraria do Pasmado (CCCP) is one of the most beloved and traditional blocks of the São Paulo carnival. With an eclectic musical proposal and a powerful drumline, Pasmado attracts crowds every year with its "anarcho carnival".

History and Tradition

The Confraria do Pasmado emerged as a samba circle among students from the University of São Paulo (USP) and made its debut on the streets in 2007, in Vila Madalena. Since then, the block has established itself as one of the highlights of the São Paulo carnival, known for its musical versatility and contagious energy.

Musical Identity

Pasmado's repertoire is marked by diversity, ranging from MPB and samba-axé to samba-canção and samba-enredo. This unique mix of styles, described by the organizers themselves as an "anarcho carnival", is one of the main attractions of the block, which offers an engaging and unpredictable musical experience.

Special Features

A striking feature of Confraria do Pasmado is its drumline, composed of more than 100 members. This robust formation guarantees the block's sonic power and its ability to attract crowds. In addition, Pasmado also stands out for its concern with social and environmental responsibility, seeking a balance between carnival celebration and its impact on the city.

Parades

The main parade of Confraria do Pasmado takes place on the last Sunday before the official carnival, in São Paulo, São Paulo. The block also organizes a smaller and more intimate block called Filhos de Plutão, which parades on Carnival Saturday.

Practical Information

The open rehearsals of Confraria do Pasmado are held in the months leading up to carnival in places like the Coringa space, in the Pinheiros region. The block maintains an active presence on social media, where it shares information about rehearsals, performances, and behind-the-scenes content.
