"Turn Off the Justice" is an innovative Carnival block that brings the universe of super-heroes and villains to the streets of Rio de Janeiro. Founded in 2008, the block aims to create a cheerful and colorful atmosphere, encouraging participants to dress up as their favorite characters.
History and Tradition
Created in 2008 by experienced percussionists, "Turn Off the Justice" sought musical independence. The block has participated in the pre-Carnival celebrations of Rio de Janeiro since 2009 and, in 2024, celebrated its 15th anniversary.
Musical Identity
The block presents an eclectic mix of musical styles, including samba, MPB, pop, rock, reggae and afoxé. The repertoire includes classic sambas, an original samba each year, and covers of famous Brazilian artists.
Parades and Performances
The main parade of "Turn Off the Justice" takes place in Praça Tiradentes. The block holds open rehearsals and a "Masked Ball" as a pre-show, a dance party for children and families.
