I Am Me, Alligator Is a Water Creature: Carnival of Peace and Joy
The carnival bloco "Eu Sou Eu, Jacaré É Bicho D' Água" (I Am Me, Alligator Is a Water Creature) is an icon of Vila Isabel, in Rio de Janeiro. Founded in 2000, the bloco stands out for its family atmosphere and the motto "And to hell with Bar do Costa, on this corner Alligator swims backwards...".
About the Bloco
With a "carnival family" as its base, "Eu Sou Eu" promotes a cheerful and relaxed atmosphere during the parades. Recognized for its contagious bateria (percussion section), the bloco also organizes samba circles throughout the year.
History and Tradition
Founded by Jair Vieira, former president of the Ala da Galera (Fans' Wing) of Unidos de Vila Isabel, the bloco emerged in 2000 (or 2001, according to some sources). Since then, it has established itself as one of the most beloved blocos in the region, bringing joy and excitement to the streets of Vila Isabel.
Parades and Performances
The "Eu Sou Eu" parades usually take place in the late afternoon or early evening, between 4 pm and 7 pm. The gathering takes place at the corner of Rua Visconde de Abaeté and Rua Torres Homem. The bloco parades through the region, spreading samba and good vibes.
