About GringolÔco

GringolÔco: An Inclusive and Diverse Carnival Block

The "GringolÔco" block is an icon of cultural diversity in the Brazilian Carnival. Founded in 2014 in the Santa Teresa neighborhood of Rio de Janeiro, the block is known for its inclusive proposal and its unique mix of rhythms.

Identity and Proposal

The name "GringolÔco" plays with the words "gringo" (foreigner) and "maluco" (crazy), reflecting the welcoming and lively spirit of the block. GringolÔco promotes the meeting between musicians and revelers of different origins, creating a vibrant and inclusive environment.

Structure and Performances

The block parades in Carnival with an original samba theme, incorporating influences from African and electronic rhythms. Weekly rehearsals are held at the Unidos da Tijuca samba school court, and GringolÔco also participates in other street blocks and cultural events.
