Lanterna Prime

Lanterna Prime

Lanterna Prime is a relatively new but increasingly popular Carnival bloco from the city of São Paulo, Brazil. Founded in 2017, this bloco quickly gained traction for its lively performances and eclectic musical style. Unlike some of the more traditional blocos that focus on specific genres like samba or marchinhas, Lanterna Prime incorporates a diverse range of Brazilian rhythms, including funk, axé, and even some electronic elements, creating a sound that is both festive and modern.

The bloco's name, 'Lanterna Prime,' translates to 'Prime Lantern,' suggesting a beacon of light and energy, which aligns with its vibrant and dynamic performances. They are known for their creative use of costumes and props, often featuring bright colors and futuristic designs, which adds to their distinctive identity. The bloco typically parades in the Vila Madalena neighborhood, a traditionally bohemian area of São Paulo that is well-known for its active nightlife and street art scene. This location makes them accessible and appealing to a diverse crowd, including young people and those seeking a more contemporary Carnival experience.

Although Lanterna Prime is a younger bloco, it has quickly established itself as a key player in São Paulo's Carnival scene, contributing to the city's reputation for having an innovative and diverse range of blocos. Its performances have become a much-anticipated event each year, drawing in a large and enthusiastic crowd.
