With a strong connection to Afro-Brazilian traditions, Zimbauê presents narratives and themes in its performances, expressed through music, costumes, and choreography. Marked by percussion, the group parades on the main avenues of Rio.

O Zona Mental, a carnival bloco (street band) from the West Zone of Rio, was created by mental health professionals and patients to promote inclusion and combat stigma. The bloco uses music, art, and performance as tools for occupational therapy and self-expression. In its parades, Zona Mental features a drum section, costumes, and allegorical elements, addressing social and political themes in its repertoire of samba-enredos (theme songs). The bloco seeks to integrate its members with the community, promoting workshops and participating in the street parades of the Rio de Janeiro carnival.
