The Grêmio Recreativo Bloco Carnavalesco Cultural Zimbauê is a samba school ("bloco de enredo") from Rio de Janeiro affiliated with the Federation of Carnival Blocks of the State of Rio de Janeiro. Its colors are green, yellow, red, and black, and its symbol is a dove freeing the chains of a slave[1].
## History
The bloco originated in 1990 as the Afro Zimbauê Cultural Group of the Island (GCAZI), being officially founded on May 6, 2016[1]. In 2019, it joined FBCERJ, allowing its official participation in the parades[1].
## Recent Parades
For the 2024 Carnival, the bloco prepared the theme "The Black Royalty of Minas Gerais" and will be the second to parade on Carnival Saturday on Estrada Intendente Magalhães[2]. The bloco has presented a competitive trajectory in recent years:
- 2022: 9th place in Group B of the blocos (Third Division)[1]
- 2023: 9th place in Group 2 (Second Division)[1]
