About Bloco das Manifestações Culturais Afoxé Babalotim
Founded in 1998, the Bloco das Manifestações Culturais Afoxé Babalotim emerged as an initiative of artists and cultural activists to promote Afro-Brazilian culture and combat racism. The bloc aims to value the African roots of Brazilian culture, promoting cultural diversity and respect for Afro identity.
The bloc performs annually at Carnival as a street bloc, with a parade marked by songs, dances, and percussion to the rhythm of afoxé, a musical style of African origin with influences from Candomblé.
