In the pulsating heart of Lapa, in Rio de Janeiro, Bloco do Beco do Rato emerges as a bastion of authentic street carnival. With over a decade of tradition, this bloco has captivated revelers with its vibrant samba circle and unwavering commitment to cultural roots.

Born in 2005 as a humble beverage depot, Beco do Rato quickly transformed into a cultural hotspot for up-and-coming samba artists. Realizing the risk of losing the traditions of street carnival, the bloco was created as an act of resistance and preservation.

Musical Identity and Repertoire:

Bloco do Beco do Rato is guided by the belief that samba is the soul of carnival. Its samba circle features a group of 12 musicians led by the talented singer Leonardo Bessa, playing percussion and wind instruments. The bloco's repertoire is a mix of samba classics and original compositions, paying homage to masters of the genre such as Moacyr Luz.
