Esporte Clube Jardim Guanabara (ECJG) Block: Joy and Tradition on Governador Island

In the heart of Governador Island, the Esporte Clube Jardim Guanabara (ECJG) Block is a pillar of Rio's revelry. Inspired by the rich history of the club of the same name, the block emerged in 1999, bringing with it a spirit of community and lots of excitement during Carnival.

Community Roots

The Jardim Guanabara neighborhood, once a summer resort area, is home to the Esporte Clube Jardim Guanabara, a community center that fosters sports, culture, and integration. The club's block is an extension of this tradition, uniting residents and visitors in a vibrant street party.

Musical Identity

The ECJG Block offers an authentic musical experience, with contagious samba rhythms. The performances are marked by a lively street band, which rocks the revelers with carnival classics and songs that celebrate the spirit of community.

Performances and Events

The block's performances take place during the official street parade of Rio's Carnival. The initial gathering takes place in Praça Jerusalém, in front of the Esporte Clube Jardim Guanabara. In addition to the parade, the club promotes special events throughout the year, such as shows, parties and balls, with a variety of musical styles.
