Sotero Paulistano: Bringing the Axé of Bahia to São Paulo

The carnival bloco Sotero Paulistano is a group that parades in São Paulo, bringing the atmosphere of axé and the Bahian carnival to the streets of São Paulo. Founded in 2015, the bloco aims to create a fusion between the cultures of Salvador and São Paulo.

Musical Identity and Repertoire

Sotero Paulistano is characterized by bringing the experience of the electric trios of the Salvador carnival to São Paulo. Its musical repertoire is based on axé, with original compositions that mix references to the capital of São Paulo and Bahian culture. One of the bloco's lyrics mentions typical elements of São Paulo, such as the drizzle and Ibirapuera Park, while alluding to the beaches and dendê of Bahia.

Special Features

The bloco aims to strengthen the carnival movement that has been growing in São Paulo in recent years, in addition to creating a new center of blocos in the Vila Olímpia region. Its presentation usually takes place in the pre-carnival period, seeking to provide a joyful, harmonious and respectful party for both residents and public space.

Parades

The bloco chose a quieter and more spacious route for revelers, seeking not to disturb the residents of the neighborhood. Although there is no specific information about parade dates, it is evident that Sotero Paulistano contributes to the cultural diversity of the São Paulo carnival, bringing a bit of the energy and music of the Bahian carnival to the streets of São Paulo.
