Founded in 2020, Cordão das Amoxtradas is a carnival bloco (street band) from São Paulo that parades in Parelheiros, in the southern region of the city. Its name, "Amoxtradas," refers to pre-Columbian codices, reflecting the bloco's commitment to cultural diversity.

Cordão das Amoxtradas holds its parades in February, incorporating traditional rhythms of Brazilian carnival, such as samba and marchinhas. The bloco has a close connection with the Casa de Cultura Parelheiros (Parelheiros Cultural Center), where it performs, promoting local culture and engagement with public cultural facilities in the city.

Cordão das Amoxtradas: The Colorful and Lively Carnival Block

Founded in 1984 in the Santo Antônio Além do Carmo neighborhood, in Salvador, Bahia, the Cordão das Amoxtradas is a samba-reggae street block known for its lively performances and colorful costumes.

The block's name is a tribute to the street vendors of roasted almonds who frequented the region where the block was created.

Over the years, the Cordão das Amoxtradas has established itself as one of the most popular carnival blocks in Salvador. With weekly rehearsals throughout the year, the block performs at carnival with a repertoire that includes samba-reggae and other popular Brazilian songs.
