Ernesto Sirena, son of Italian immigrants, founded Badalo de Santa Teresa in front of his house. Inspired by Carnival since childhood, Ernesto composed the bloco's first samba, which became a hymn of joy and samba. Initially, the bloco paraded around the block, but soon it took over the streets of Santa Teresa.
