Bloco da Terreirada Cearense emerged in 2010, founded by singer and composer Junú. Inspired by the alternative party of the same name, the bloco was created to share the culture of the Northeast and North of Brazil with the Southeast. Its Ceará roots are evident in its performances, which carry traditional elements of the region.

Musical Identity and Repertoire

Bloco da Terreirada Cearense mixes traditional rhythms of the Northeast, such as coco, maracatu, baião, xote, and ciranda, with contemporary influences. They incorporate instruments from cabaçal bands and a drumline inspired by the style of Rio's Carnival. Their repertoire is a celebration of popular culture, rooted in the Reisado de Congo do Cariri.
